(4724) Centre pivot irrigation
A sprinkler method using an irrigation machine, fully automatic, consisting of a nozzle-line pivoting around one of its extremities where water under pressure is fed to the line. The nozzle-line is supported at intervals by self-propelled towers, each driven by a hydraulic or electric motor. Water may be distributed from the nozzle-line by rotating sprinkler heads, fixed diffusers (nozzles), or closely-spaced spray heads, which are often suspended below the line to reduce wind effects on their discharge pattern.
